The Insoles were a pioneering family of coal shippers, mine owners, railway men and docks men.

With the family reaching the height of their prosperity during the late 19th century, they acquired large land holdings, and at the centre of these holdings, they placed their home...Insole Court.

James Insole modelled the house on Cardiff Castle, which is where its glorious gothic style comes from, but after he passed, his son Frederick redecorated most of the interior rooms into a more homely style.

Today the manor hosts many community projects during the day, and has become a busy hub for both locals and people from the surrounding areas, but when darkness falls and all is quiet, it seems the house is not so empty after all.

Many things have been reported by both staff and visitors over the years.

A ghostly black dog that appears to "melt into thin air". The sound of children's laughter echoing through the corridors, and a mysterious woman in black that watches staff and visitors alike.
