Llancaiach Fawr

Tucked away in the Welsh valleys, sits a grand Manor house originally owned by a family with great wealth and power, the Pritchards.

Built in around 1550, Llancaiach Fawr is a grade 1 listed building ranked amongst the top 10 most haunted locations in the UK. Period actors that work at the house, regularly report supernatural goings on here and with the births, deaths and sad events it has witnessed over its many years, it is no wonder this house is full of spirit activity.

The house had many servants, some living in the manor, and some employed as outworkers living in their own dwellings off site, but the more famous of them all is Mattie.

Mattie was the housekeeper who died in an horrific accident. She has been seen around the house, more so in the kitchen, but also in her bedroom. People have heard the sound of her skirts rustling when she is around and have also experienced the over whelming feeling of sadness upon entering her room.

When you enter the property, you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the little boy that haunts here. He has been seen on many occasions sitting on the staircase, watching visitors come and go, but be warned, he can be mischievous. Visitors often report their shoelaces being untied, having their hair pulled, and being poked, but there is also the sweet side, where people have reported feeling the sensation of a child holding their hand.

A figure has been seen in the great hall, thought to be that of Colonel Pritchard. Maybe he is contemplating his decision to defect to the Parliamentarians during the civil war, an act that turned him against the King. The figure has been seen staring out of the window as though deep in thought.

The armoury. This room is the more disturbing room of the manor. The feeling of being watched has been reported in this room many times, along with a figure that hides in the shadows. It is reported that it does not like women, neither does it appreciate visitors. We will, with no doubt find out if we are welcome... or not.

There is so much activity throughout the manor. From the sound of children’s laughter, heavy footsteps throughout, figures being seen, a girl in a cloak that has been seen in the cellar, a man in a cloak that walks the perimeter of the house, guests being touched and effected by past incidents, this event is definitely one not too be missed.
